HS2: My view
“HS2 is a very important issue in Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner. I have considered the arguments for and against, and taken due consideration of my party’s official policy.
My conclusion is that as with most things, there are benefits and significant downsides to HS2 in its current incarnation.
The plans to drive the piles to support the viaduct near Harefield risk polluting the local water supply, which is illegal. For that reason, this version of HS2 is incompatible with my overall view so I am very clear that I cannot endorse HS2 in its current form.”
My name’s Jonathan Banks and I’m the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesperson for the London Borough of Hillingdon.
Enoch Powell said all political careers end in failure. I don’t think there’s anything else I can agree with him on - but that was certainly true of our last 2 Prime Ministers, David Cameron and Theresa May. Whilst Boris Johnson’s career seems to have begun with failure, I look forward to its end too!
I love listening to what’s concerning local people, and when appropriate, explaining what we stand for. Don’t wait for me to come to you!
