Statement from the office of Jonathan Banks
Parliamentary Candidate for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner

HS2: My view
“HS2 is a very important issue in Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner. I have considered the arguments for and against, and taken due consideration of my party’s official policy.
My conclusion is that as with most things, there are benefits and significant downsides to HS2 in its current incarnation.
The plans to drive the piles to support the viaduct near Harefield risk polluting the local water supply, which is illegal. For that reason, this version of HS2 is incompatible with my overall view so I am very clear that I cannot endorse HS2 in its current form.”
My name’s Jonathan Banks and I’m your Parliamentary Candidate for the Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner constituency.
Since being selected a few weeks ago I’ve been busy campaigning for the local elections next door in Three Rivers, and for the Euro elections. Here’s our candidate (and Boris beater) for Uxbridge and South Ruislip, Dr Elizabeth, our membership secretary, Karl Lawrence, and me, getting ready to campaign in Northwood before our amazing Euro elections.
3 LibDem MEPs for London, 13 more in the rest of the UK, and beating both Labour and Conservatives – our best ever result! What a great time to be a Lib Dem supporter!
Fun fact – that’s the first time we’ve outpolled the Tories since 1906!
Enoch Powell said all political careers end in failure. I don’t think there’s anything else I can agree with him on but that’s certainly true of David Cameron and Theresa May – Vince must surely be the exception that proves the rule.
I love getting out in our constituency and listening to what’s concerning local people, and when appropriate, explaining what we stand for. Don’t wait for me to come to you!
